We are committed to teaching ex-offenders a new way of life through Jesus Christ, and to bring comfort, companionship and the love of Jesus Christ to all those in Colorado's nursing homes. We sponsor over 80 specific ministries to men and women in prison, to youths in prison and jail, to adult aftercare programs and to men, women and children in nursing and intensive-care facilities. We also sponsor a Greeley, Colorado church (The Rock) created specifically for ex-inmates and their families.

Shekinah is a 501(C)3 non-profit Colorado Corporation

Jail Ministry
Weekly ministry within Boulder, Larimer, Weld, and Adams county jails. Bible studies are held for men and women. Scripture, prayer and counseling bring answers and new beginnings to the lives of many.

Prison Ministry
Seminars are held monthly in 25 state, federal and juvenile institutions to help inmates renew their minds/change their way of thinking. As inmates make the transition to the community or transfer to other correctional facilities, we endeavor to stay in touch via letters, telephone calls and one-on-one personal visits. The desired result is a growing relationship with the individuals as they are discipled in Christ.

Halfway Houses and Work Release Programs
Weekly bible studies in Longmont, Boulder, Fort Collins and Greeley for inmates who are reintroduced to society. Volunteers work with inmates in locating jobs and seeking employers who will hire these inmates. We provide them with Bibles and other literature.

Youth Ministry
Shekinah has two church services and Bible studies per week at the Platte Valley Youth Facility in Greeley, CO.

Nursing Home Ministry
Shekinah provides Sunday church services to the residents of 14 nursing homes. Each week we provide musical groups, worship leaders and preaching of the Word. Weekday-devotionals are also held at many of these nursing homes.

Future Plans
* To open up several Christian restoration homes (providing ex-offenders with a personal, socially- and spiritually-structured community environment).

* To offer ex-offenders and their families an after-care program.
* To extend our gang ministry throughout the State of Colorado.
* To create and operate a Reality Wake-Up Program for at-risk youth.
* To build a statewide communications program.
* To expand our ministry to at least four more youth prisons.

We Welcome You as a Volunteer
Come shine your light. Shekinah Christian Ministries is looking for more volunteers. Shekinah Ministries has some 200 volunteers statewide. They are the heart and soul of this ministry, reaching out to hurting people in 25 penal institutions and over a dozen nursing homes. Call us at 303-682-9593 and we will arrange an interview.

By ministering to others, God ministers to you! Join us in opening up more nursing home, jails, prisons and youth centers to the Love of God through Jesus Christ. As He has commanded us: "Go into the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15

Why Shekinah Is "A Good Choice" For Charitable Giving
We consider Shekinah Christian Ministries to be an excellent choice for charitable gifts, grants, and planned giving. Our attributes are five-fold:

1) We fight against devastating social issues that affect virtually all Americans at some time in their lives. Adult criminality, juvenile delinquency, and the disenfranchisement of institutionalized elderly citizens all rank among the country’s top-ten social ills. Thus, our work is aimed not at peripheral problems affecting the few, but at profound problems which influence everyone’s quality of life.

2) We have a record of stability and continuity. Several founders of the ministry remain active as volunteers and/or as financial supporters. This longevity attests to our commitment and our effectiveness.

3) We are volunteer-based. We do not rely on salaried staff to accomplish objectives. Thus, nearly all funds received go directly to meet "client" needs. Each year, our 200 volunteers work to change the hearts and lives of thousands of incarcerated felons – male, female and juvenile -- at 25 county, state and federal institutions. Hundreds of lonely elders at 13 Northern Colorado nursing homes receive weekly blessings in the form of music and worship programs, devotionals and one-on-one companionship.

4) We are efficient. With a total budget of about just over $100,000 annually, we are helping to change thousands of lives for the better, with a goal of returning peace to our communities. We are eager to do more, particularly in our youth programs and in nursing homes. Needed are more funds and more volunteers.

Our volunteers not only pick up most of their own expenses, and do all the work; they also provide the lion’s share of donations to the ministry. Some of the volunteers lack funds for hotels, meals, transportation, etc., as they travel about to jails and prisons. But they somehow find the means to "get there and back," despite their personal penury.

5) We are effective. Our work is concrete and measurable. We have, over the course of 30 years, learned what works – and we stick with what we know. As one example of provable effectiveness, an associate program, Restoration Houses, has a solid record of converting over 95% of their graduates from lives of crime into family and church-based citizens and taxpayers. The best of society’s expensive, government-paid "halfway houses" achieve just 15-20% success (Colorado and nationally).

What Can I Do to Help – Right Now?
1) Make cash contributions. We are a 501(c)3 corporation and donations are deductible.

2) Volunteer your services as a mentor, trainer or employer. Contact us at the office and we will arrange an interview with you.
